Meet Luisa
Organizer, Researcher, Educator
I am an immigrant from Brazil and have lived in Massachusetts for over 10 years. With a background in organizing, strategic research, and participatory planning processes, I worked in Cambridge Public Schools as a paraprofessional in the SCALE program at the Fletcher Maynard Academy. I am currently working as a paraprofessional in the AIM program in Somerville Public Schools—the only current preK-12 public school educator on the ballot for Cambridge School Committee.
I am running for School Committee to bring my grassroots perspective as an educator, care worker, union member, and policy researcher to fight for the under-resourced.
I earned my B.A. from Amherst College and my M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University.

With over 7 years of experience in labor organizing—most recently as a CEA and MTA member—I’ve organized labor-community coalitions and advanced contract campaigns.
Strategic Campaign Development
I apply data-driven approaches to building out campaigns and policies for the equitable redistribution of resources and for community empowerment. I analyze CPS budgets through an equity lens.
Participatory Process
Educators and families, i.e., the people most impacted by school policies, have the solutions. My background includes participatory budgeting, participatory action research, and democratic governance to make these systems responsive.
